Gaza and Lhasa
Posted January 14th, 2009 by 阿偉In this post, I am going to be as forthcoming as possible, because what I am about to say is, I feel, of high urgency and importance. I will not treat this topic in the same politically correct way that others have treated it, but rather speak openly and frankly on this issue.
Today we have a serious problem regarding transparency and honesty in activism.
When violence erupted in Lhasa in March of 2008, there were immediate demonstrations throughout the so-called “free” Western world. Inspired by the voluminous quantities of propaganda from the liberal media, these people purchased T-shirts, took to the streets, and began chanting slogans, spontaeously denouncing the Chinese government for their wrongdoing in Tibet.
I will not devote this article extensively to speaking about Tibet. However, suffice it to say that the PLA is not bombing homes and businesses with white phosphorous; nor did they kill as many people as Israel did in the same time. Beijing did not order attacks on humanitarians who wanted to help those injured in the Lhasa riots. But, today, as Zionist Israeli planes are bombing, maiming and killing civilians, women and children in Gaza there still some people that are clamoring for a “Free Tibet,” all the while ignoring the very obvious abuses occurring in Palestine. Perhaps even worse is the fact that these same people declare Israel to be a victim acting in self-defense. Originally, the proponents of a Free Tibet have claimed they want religious freedom and self-determination for an indigenous people, and if anything, one would expect these same individuals to attend rallies for Palestine. Yet, only a few isolated demonstrations have taken place, and few of these received the media attention that was given to the anti-Chinese rallies.
What this should bring to light is that there are people being persecuted throughout the world. These people are wedged between war and tyranny in many theaters throughout the world. Today, the Palestinians - Christian and Muslim - are suffering from a near-satanic tyranny that threatens their lives and homes. For 19 days, Gaza has beared the brunt of the Israeli military’s aggressive siege. Over one thousand Palestinians have been killed by Israel, and 4560 remain silent, yet these so-called activists, as well as the media, remain silent.
If nothing, this should tell us of they hypocrisy facing the Palestinians today created by an amplification of the Holocaust mythos and enforced by a controlled, liberal media. Today, the Holocaust serves both as contradiction-free ideology backing the existence of Israel, and intellectual battering ram against those who dare to point out such double standards. In the West, one is constantly reminded of the “horrors of Nazi gas chambers,” and their reminder to make sure that this does not happen again, by ideologically supporting the artificial state of Israel. Thus, the media attempts to demonize anyone opposed to Zionist fundamentalism. In other words, the supposed pioneers of the frontiers of liberal freethought once again show their hypocrisy: they scowl with anger when world leaders such as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or even Congressman Ron Paul speak ill of Israel, but are full of gleeful approval when one of their santioned atheistic prophets attack Islam or Christianity.
Today, the hypocrisy has been exposed for many to see; indeed, after the events of last year, it is nearly impossible to ignore.
