We Spend Two Weeks Using Apple’s Much-Anticipated Device
To See if It Lives Up to the Hype; In Search of the Comma Key

One of the most important trends in personal
technology over the past few years has been the evolution of the humble
cellphone into a true handheld computer, a device able to replicate
many of the key functions of a laptop. But most of these “smart phones”
have had lousy software, confusing user interfaces and clumsy music,
video and photo playback. And their designers have struggled to balance
screen size, keyboard usability and battery life.

Now, Apple
Inc., whose digital products are hailed for their design and
innovation, is jumping into this smart-phone market with the iPhone,
which goes on sale in a few days after months of the most frenzied hype
and speculation we have ever seen for a single technology product. Even
though the phone’s minimum price is a hefty $499, people are already
lining up outside Apple stores to be among the first to snag one when
they go on sale Friday evening.

multiple usage scenarios, in cities across the country. Our verdict is
that, despite some flaws and feature omissions, the iPhone is, on
balance, a beautiful and breakthrough handheld computer. Its software,
especially, sets a new bar for the smart-phone industry, and its clever
finger-touch interface, which dispenses with a stylus and most buttons,
works well, though it sometimes adds steps to common functions.

The Apple phone combines intelligent voice calling,
and a full-blown iPod, with a beautiful new interface for music and
video playback. It offers the best Web browser we have seen on a smart
phone, and robust email software. And it synchronizes easily and well
with both Windows and Macintosh computers using Apple’s iTunes software.

It has the largest and highest-resolution screen of
any smart phone we’ve seen, and the most internal memory by far. Yet it
is one of the thinnest smart phones available and offers impressive
battery life, better than its key competitors claim.

现在有很多rumor有关于SONY的PSP Phone。那一定很酷，但是我让我担心的是他的用电量，重量，当然也有PSP技术的外泄。这款PSP Phone还是值得期待的，相信不久的将来，对于手机高端市场的争夺将会更加激烈，到时候还会有google phone, iphone。我一直在想，Apple说不定马上就会率先推出他的compatible gaming system, too。还有就是微软的compatible xbox。世界真是丰富多彩啊！

Sony’s PlayStation portable (PSP) now has a new version 3.50
firmware update available, letting you access music, pictures and
videos on a Sony PlayStation 3 from a PSP wirelessly connected to the
Internet. When Sony upgraded its PS3 firmware to version 1.80
last week, one of its key features was Remote Play, giving you media
streaming over a network, but the missing link was the ability to
receive that content.

In this PSP firmware update, Sony also threw in a RSS Channel Guide
for those newbies not familiar with that concept, but the real deal
here is that Remote Play trick. It’s a bit of a misnomer because it
won’t let you play any PS3 games remotely on a PSP. Own both devices?

Sony Japan recently released a new USB mouse with a unique twist.
Simply pick up the mouse from your desktop, and it flips open to become
a Skype telephone handset.

The Sony VN-CX1A telephone mouse
is a fully-functional optical mouse which works with all Windows PCs.
Pick it up, and open it and it transforms into a VOIP phone for use
with Skype. When propped open on the desktop, it becomes a speaker
phone. The mouse comes in black, silver and blue colors which match most of Sony’s VAIO PCs.

It’s available now from Sony Style Japan for ¥7980 (appx. $65 USD.) No release date has been announced for other countries.

One for the fashion pack to slip into their Mulberry Bayswater, this
prototype moonlighting under the name of a Mobile Metro notebook is a
retch-inducing .7 inches thick and weighs in at 2.25 pounds.

Intel are claiming this prototype will be manufactured by the end of
the year, and will include a magnetically attached folder available in
different ‘fashion’ colours which can charge up wirelessly. One side of
the folder has a screen made of a form of material which can display a
picture, calendar or schedule, and adding to the wow factor, you can
attach a strap and create that bag lady look by slinging it over your shoulder like a handbag.

Made using Intel chips, it’ll connect to the intertubes by Wi-Fi,
EV-DO and WiMax with a reported battery life of 14 massive hours. Business Week
are reporting that Intel told designers to spare no cost with the
creation, and that it must be as thin as a Motorola Razr, obviously
today’s new metric measurement tool.

Inspired by noise-cancelling headphones, the laptop includes small
microphones designed to reduce background noise when using a VoIP
service such as Skype. Security also plays an important part in the
Mobile Metro laptop, carrying a fingerprint reader and technology
allowing users to ‘kill’ a hard drive by the use of a remote control.
Added to Windows Vista, it’s sure to be on the top of everyone’s lists
this Christmas. But is it worth scrimping on meals for in order to
afford this super-slim laptop?

Now the days, it seems pretty tough to sell good price on ebay.
